When out from the yard there arose such a clatter

I sprang from my bed expecting blood splatter!  Instead, I found Luna, Wrigley and a raccoon going round and round (literally) the big pine in the front yard.  I tried to call the dogs off, but they ignored me entirely as I yelled from the porch in the cold...in my undies...looking ridiculous.  Actually, I think all three stopped for second just to giggle at me, then continued fighting.

The raccoon stayed up there for several hours, eventually crawling down very carefully and making a run for it.  I made sure Luna did not impede the escape, as I felt the raccoon had endured enough.

Penny and the Jets

Penny being the recently acquired Alpine goat pictured below.  Jets referring to the streams of milk we get from this lactatin' machine.  Good lord.  Also pictured below is the stanchion I built to facilitate the milking, including a pic of the very first bucket of milk.  We milk her twice a day, and she is a very good milker.  She is also sweet as all get out.  Penny loves to have her cheeks, chin and top of her head rubbed.  She's really very sweet.

Ahhhhhh...Spring

The Spring is drawing forth all the creatures at F1E from their respective shelters.  Human beings open the windows and the animals return to the pastures.  Daffodils appeared overnight.  It feels like the farm and all of its inhabitants are collectively stretching their various appendages and filling their lungs with the crisp, fresh air.  It's still a little chilly in the mornings and nights, but it feels good to have that chill in my lungs.  The chilly-fresh quality of the air portends the warmth and comfort of the coming months; the spring air is a catalyst, sparking a change in body and mind.  Simultaneously the color green simply appeared, as if some cosmic picture editor silently turned a knob and adjusted the universal hue.  It's a beautiful picture.
